Authorities are on the look-out for a Columbus woman who skipped a hearing in Madison County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Visiting Judge Steven P. Beathard issued an arrest warrant for Nichole E. Adkins, 30, after the woman failed to appear for a pre-trial hearing on a receiving stolen property charge.
Adkins was free on a signature bond, pending a Jan. 15, 2014 trial.
Defense attorney Robert Bannerman said Adkins contacted him several times via phone in recent weeks, but didn’t keep office appointments. He could not explain the woman’s absence.
Adkins is accused of possessing a stolen 2003 Honda Accord on Jan. 21 this year. A London woman reported the car stolen a week earlier.
In other common pleas court action this week, Jennifer Friend, 40, of West Jefferson, was sentenced to 15 days in Tri-County Regional Jail, after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drug-related charge.
Friend was initially charged with conspiring to traffic heroin— a fifth-degree felony. The reduced charge was the result of a plea bargain.
Judge Eamon Costello delayed the start of Friend’s jail time until after the upcoming holiday season. He also suspended the woman’s driver’s license, but allowed her to drive for employment purposes.
