Cobras ‘love’ strawberries

The 2014 London Cobra Show will feature a re-visit by a Cobra legend. Allan Grant, who drove for and against Carroll Shelby in the 1960s, will revisit the London Cobra Show over the weekend of June 19-22.

Again the Cobra show will feature an international cast of Cobra characters.

International you say?

“Oui, mon amis.”

Looking over the group of people already signed up to attend, two Cobra fans from Quebec and several from Ontario, Canada will cross the border to visit London.

Add to them, Cobra lovers from all over the U.S., from Connecticut to Washington state and the result is an American eclectic group who muster for fellowship drawn by an iconic race car.

As of this writing, 146 entries, many with guests, have signed on to drive in and enjoy the show. Very few, if any, of these colorful replicas arrive as trailer queens. Those who pay homage to Shelby’s powerful racer by building its replica arrive under their own power, exhausts screaming.

Once again, the event is a benefit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Proceeds from the sale of tickets for the Cobra raffle and tickets sold by thrillseekers taking a hot Cobra ride, will benefit the CFF.

To help with the fund raising part of the mission, The London Cobra Club gained 501c3 non-profit status in 2006 and has been having fun and raising money for the charity, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, ever since. To date, The Ohio Cobra Club has donated nearly $700,000 to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, according to the club’s website.

For those who prefer a seat-of-the-pants, instant-gratification type of Cobra thrill, choose the ride down Main Street. For a $10 donation, show attendees can sit in a Cobra while the driver pops the clutch, burns rubber and blasts down the street, all under the watchful eye of the London Police Department. There’s no denying Cobra car owners love to go fast.
