Jack and Georgia Scaggs

Jack and Georgia Scaggs, of London, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 30, 2016.

They were married on June 30, 1954 in Betsy Layne, Kentucky at the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Carl Layne.

Jack was employed with McCords/Canfield and Creamer Sheet Metal, both in London. He was also the co-owner of J & J Excavating with Jerry Beauman from 1974-1979. In 1980, along with son-in-law Tim Barker, they made J & J Excavating a family-owned business. He retired in 2002.

Georgia worked at Madison County Hospital from 1968-1977 as a nurse aide. In 1977, she began her hospice career of more than 30 years with Madison County Home Health & Hospice and then Loving Care Hospice where she retired in 2011. Currently, Georgia is volunteering her time at the Mt. Sterling Community Center.

The couple have four children: one son, Jeff (Audrey) Scaggs of Redding, California; and three daughters, Luana (Tim) Barker of Mt. Sterling, Tami (Jeff) Kiser of Lewis Center and Jacque (Tommy) Hutslar of London.

They have eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration honoring their anniversary, as well as both of their 80th birthdays, was recently held at the Mt. Sterling Community Center hosted by their daughters. More than 100 family members and friends were present to enjoy this chapter in their lives.
