A medical helicopter transported a victim from a serious crash on State Route 38 just outside London Thursday afternoon.

The two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the 700 block of State Route 38 southeast, according to scanner traffic.

A teal Chevrolet Malibu was northbound and a red mustang was heading south, according to Lt. Jacob Pyles of the West Jefferson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Preliminary investigation shows the Malibu went left of center and hit the Mustang.

The victim from the Mustang had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was in critical condition and had to be flown out via helicopter for medical attention. Pyles did not know where he was being sent.

The victim from the Malibu was taken to Madison Health with less severe injuries.

The identities of those involved were not immediately available.

Crews from Central Township and London Fire Departments were on the scene to help provide aid to the entrapped victim. Squads from Madison EMD also assisted.

Emergency responders described the damage as “severe.”

No charges have been filed as of yet. The investigation is currently ongoing and may take several days.
